‘Journey’s End’ is a specially commissioned piece and is the largest painting I have ever created at two meters square. I had to move out of the spare room and borrow a studio space in a converted dairy at a local farm, because I couldn’t fit the canvas in through my front door! In fact there was a tense moment at the door of the dairy – we had to unbox it to get it in!
I loved the physicality of working on a piece this size, it’s a whole body experience! It was also fascinating to be painting a site specific piece – I had visited the room where it was to hang and spent a lot of time visualising it in situ.
I am so grateful to the painting’s owner for giving me such a precious opportunity to stretch my wings!
